Version Numbering

Major Release

major website version is dictated by the first sequence. For example, 2.0.0 is a major release. So is 3.0.04.0.0, all the way up to 5.0.0+. Version 4.0.0 is no different than 3.0.0 and 2.0.0. There isn’t a “Exodus Website 3” or “Exodus Website 4”, it’s just version updates of the website and server so we can keep track of development and open transparency to the community.

Major releases add new user features and integrated APIs for services. A “major” version means you can expect great updates to the website that benefit every user so their website experience can be fluent with ease of use. Major releases will most likely occur 2-3x a year.

Minor Release

minor website version is dictated by the second sequence. Version 3.9.0 is a minor release. So is 3.8.0 and 1.3.0. A minor release is intended for bugfixes and enhancements that do not add major new deployed files and are at the discretion of the release lead with suggestions/input from component maintainers and committers.

Security Release

security website version is dictated by the third sequence. For examples, 2.9.1 is a security release. So is 1.8.9 and 1.3.2. A security release is intended for security fixes and enhancements that keep the website secure. A security release will happen often but they do not represent website instability. They are only to maintain the already harden security of the site.
